In the Detroit area, young rapper Jimmy Smith, Jr. struggles to hold on to hope while every part of his life seems to push back. Drawn to the city’s vibrant music scene, he wants to make it big and find his own voice, but friends, rivals and daily pressures make the path harder than it looks in a world where rhymes decide reputation.
