In 1996, fourth grader Cecil Stevens has a name that makes his lisp impossible to hide every time he says it. Desperate to avoid embarrassment, he decides to rename himself Michael Jordan. When Cecil and his friends team up with their corrupt principal to sell celebrity names to other kids, the scheme leads the whole school toward a lesson in acceptance.
