Elegy

Cultural critic David Kepesh prides himself on a life of independence and self-defined freedom, a state he calls emancipated manhood. That carefully controlled existence begins to unravel when he becomes involved with Consuela Castillo, a poised and well-mannered student whose presence stirs in him an unsettling sense of desire and sexual possessiveness.
