In 1933, amid the hardship of the Depression, rail-riding hobos face a ruthless enemy in Shack, the brutal conductor of the number 19 train. Determined that no one will ride for free, Shack sets his sights on A No. 1, known as the best train-hopping hobo tramp in the Northwest, turning the rails into a dangerous contest of will.
