Pauline is a disturbed, isolated high-school student with an intense fascination with surgery and dreams of a future in medicine. As she struggles with violent, psychosexual fantasies and life as an outcast, her need for acceptance grows more desperate. Under the pressure of her controlling mother, Pauline begins pushing toward extremes in an attempt to prove herself and earn approval.
