A skilled movie special effects artist is recruited by federal agents for an unusual covert job: stage the fake assassination of a well-known mobster. But when the operation turns against him and he realizes he has been set up to take the blame, his craft becomes his only defense. Using the tricks and illusions he knows best, he must stay alive while caught between a gangster and corrupt agents.
