As the Confederacy struggles to fund large armies, Wade Hampton III steps in with his own fortune. Determined to support the war effort, he creates, finances, and supplies a fighting force of his own, bringing together infantry, cavalry, and artillery. Hampton’s Legion follows the formation of this privately backed unit and the challenge of sustaining it when official resources fall short.
