During the Depression, Chaney is a quiet drifter and tough streetfighter who finds work in the illegal world of bare-knuckle boxing. Teaming with Speed, a promoter of no-holds-barred street bouts, he heads to New Orleans, where Speed borrows money to arrange fights. As Chaney earns his way in the ring, Speed’s gambling keeps putting their winnings and their uneasy partnership at risk.
