During World War I, British Army Private Arthur James Hamp faces a court-martial after being accused of desertion during battle. Captain Hargreaves, the officer assigned to defend him, begins to examine the charge and the circumstances behind it. As the case unfolds, Hargreaves finds that Hamp’s situation is more complicated than it first appeared.
