In Durham, a town fading alongside the tobacco business that once sustained it, empty warehouses and closed shops mark a community in decline. When outsider Gus Leroy arrives with a new business plan, he rents an old warehouse from a cash-strapped tobacco heiress. His proposal brings fresh possibility to Five Points, but it also unsettles the lives of local residents who sense that what he is bringing may be dangerous.
