Louise and Kasper long to become parents, but Louise is unable to have children. Hoping for another way, Louise makes a private pact with Elena, their Romanian maid, asking her to carry the child Louise cannot bear herself. What begins as an arrangement meant to fulfill the couple’s wish for a family soon grows uncertain, as events fail to unfold the way any of them planned.
