After World War I, a veteran biplane pilot struggles to leave the sky behind. Missing the glory days of combat flying, he turns to barnstorming, chasing thrills and attention in daring aerial shows. A chance meeting with a former German ace leads him into Hollywood, where the two co-star in war films that recreate the dogfights of the past.
