The Night of the Hunter

In Depression-era West Virginia, a self-proclaimed preacher sets his sights on a gullible widow and the secret her young children are keeping. Their real father hid $10,000 stolen in a robbery, and the children know where it is. As the preacher marries into the family, his true nature emerges, turning his pursuit of the money into a threat that closes in on the children.
