Jimmy Shive-Overly is narcissistic, brash, self-destructive, and convinced that every relationship is doomed. Gretchen Cutler is cynical, stubborn, people-pleasing, and just as sure that relationships are not for her. After meeting at a wedding, the two naturally go home together, then find themselves falling in love and trying to build a relationship neither of them believes can work.
